The original vineyard on the Montezuma Canyon Ranch was planted in 1974 by Bennett Price, a veteran Colorado Grape Grower, (who now owns DeBeque Canyon Winery, in Palisade, CO). The vines that survived the decades since then were mainly the Utah black grape, a cross of Pinot Noir and the Swiss Bako Noir, which seems to thrive in the cold canyon nights. We still produce about 1/2 ton of those Utah Black grapes.
More recently, we have planted out over 20 acres in six different wine grape varietals across the lower elevations of the ranch.
Here is our Vineyard Block Table.
